Contactors for rotor resistance, reversing contactors and contactors for inductive or resistive loads are essential components in electrical systems.
Solid State Contactors represent an evolution in relation to the old Static Switches. While the latter were mainly intended for resistive loads, solid state contactors were designed to support highly inductive loads, such as alternating current induction motors, whether squirrel-cage or other, whether in direct or non-direct starting. They have the advantage of not generating transients and of handling high switching frequencies. In addition, they provide substantial savings by reducing the need for maintenance shutdowns and minimizing production losses, especially in systems with high switching frequencies and in hostile environments.
Varixx Solid State Contactors operate with soft switching, that is, they turn on when there is no voltage and turn off when there is no current, thus avoiding the generation of electromagnetic noise, overvoltages and smoothing the starting current (Inrush).
