Varixx presents ONNO LED line for indoor landscaping
For almost 50 years, Varixx has been a national developer and manufacturer of various industrial solutions in the electrical sector. It owns ONNO brand, which presents the market with various models of LED luminaires focused on commercial and industrial environments. With a history built on innovation, ONNO has also developed a line of specific luminaires for plants, according to the needs of each species and the lighting conditions of the planting site, allowing designers and landscapers to bring life to indoor environments with little or no natural light.
The models were also designed for indoor use, such as greenhouses and nurseries, or outdoor use in center pivots for areas where large crops are grown, such as soybeans, providing greater productivity with increased photoperiod. Validations have even been carried out in partnership with Esalq/USP University.
Onno line uses high-efficiency LEDs with different compositions of irradiated spectra to achieve a result that is closer to sunlight, so that the plants develop naturally. “Each project is unique, there are many possible compositions for the LEDs to reach different wavelengths. It is necessary to understand which spectrum is the most suitable for each species, positioning, photometry, luminous flux and other variables that can arise in a project like this," explains Mailson Lima, Varixx's commercial manager.
“I was already familiar with these products and I approached the company to develop specific LEDs for the landscaping in the closed spaces of Cidade Matarazzo,” says Roberto Ferrari, botanical curator of Cia. das Árvores, responsible for implementing the landscaping in the development.
Ferrari's initiative aimed to ensure better conditions for plants exposed to little natural light at three points in the complex. Onno line was applied to the drop off, a corridor also called a cave, which serves as a vehicle access to the hotel lobby. They were also used around the spiral staircase, framed by greenery, created to connect the fourth, fifth and sixth floors of the building. The last space, still under construction, is the restaurant that will occupy the basement of one of the blocks in phase 2.
Two models were developed to meet the three applications required. “Most of the plants are native to the same region, which means they need similar amounts of sunlight,” says Mailson Lima. In total, there were approximately 120 luminaires, all with stainless steel and aluminum structures and LEDs with high luminous flux and great energy efficiency. The front lenses offer different opening angles to suit each type of plant.
